Italy the land of romance and intrigue is all set to open up to the travelers come summer and one of the most intriguing travel offers that I have come of late is this one from Delta Airlines covering both Tuscany and Florence, a 7/8 days package all for $989, travel and a double room included.
We all must have heard of Florence in one form or the other, the city that was once the seat of the powerful Medici family and one that has had a close association with Michelangelo, the artist and the architect. Just looking at travel pictures of the Tuscany region and Florence in particular is enough to make one want to travel there right away.
The best sight to take in, at least from what I had been able to check out on net is the ‘Dumo’, this dome is supposed to be spectacular and is one of the ‘must see’ sights of Florence. What is unique about this dome is the way that it is supposed to have been built, its builder Filippo Brunelleschi had managed to hold the top dome from collapsing by arranging the bricks in the top layer in such a way that the force is exerted so as to prevent it from collapsing. And believe it or not it is all supposed to have been done the natural way, and today this dome stands out as an architectural wonder.
Every where you turn around in Florence, there is some story connected with that place, but the one thing that we must have all heard about this city is its revered “statue of david”. Well, I guess if you want to take in the image of the so called perfect man, you should start making a beeline for David, but as for me, I intend to travel to the country side and sample some of those valuable Tuscany wines. You see, Tuscany is not all about history but is also known for its wines all over the world.
